Smith takes over the Baton as Dominant India look to seal WTC Finale Spot

Not often has any test cricket lover seen two consecutive tests concluding in less than three days, but such has been the nature of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Not many would have expected a team of the stature like the Aussies to crumble under pressure and hand India two comfortable victories without breaking much sweat. Focusing only on the 2nd test, Australia had India on the backfoot twice in as many days but failed to sustain momentum as the Indian spin-troika of Jadeja, Ashwin and Axar had the better of them not only with the ball but also with the bat, on what was termed as a rank-turner. Most of the Aussie batsmen were guilty of playing the sweep shot, which led to their downfall and a jaw-dropping collapse to hand the Indians an easy victory.

However, conditions seem a bit different for the next test as Aussie-skipper Pat Cummins has rushed back home owing to medical emergency in family and David Warner and Josh Hazelwood returning home due to injuries. All this has led to Steve Smith taking over the leadership baton once again and it has increased the curiosity and excitement among fans to witness vintage Smith leading the Aussies on Indian soil against the Indians. India will face Australia in the 3rd Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy, which starts on 1st March 2023.
