The 2nd day of the Qualifiers round, saw 2-times Champions West Indies take on Scotland in a bid to advance to the Super 12 stage of T20 World Cup 2022. Similar to what Sri Lanka faced yesterday, West Indies felt today. A 1ST innings death-over comeback from the Scottish army and a 2nd innings batting collapse by the West Indians saw Scotland emerge victorious and make a bold statement. The Scottish-skipper led from the front with the bat with an unbeaten knock of 66 to take his team to a competitive score of 160. For a star-studded West Indies line-up, this wasn’t a threatening score but the stars have changed in due time and the absence of Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell along with Shimron Hetmyer was duly felt. Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell, being two of the best Carribean batters, failed to lead from the front. Experienced batsman- Evin Lewis also faltered. Among all this mishap, the ever-dependable Jason Holder fought a lone battle, but wasn’t enough for his team to cross the line. Each of the Scottish bowlers picked up atleast one wicket and kept on piling the pressure on the West Indians. In the end, the Carribeans were bundled out for just 118 runs. The Scottish-skipper was awarded the Player of the Match Award and with this Scotland wrote a new chapter in their Cricketing history.
