Pujara fights a lone battle as Middle order collapse again -
Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s modern-day wall, stood up once again as India’s fragile middle order was put under the pump by Nathan Lyon and co. in the recently concluded 3rd Test. Showing his grit, determination, and commitment, Pujara scored crucial 53 runs in the context of the game as he was continuously running out of partners at the other end. Shreyas Iyer played a quick-fire cameo which was ended by a smart bowling change on part of Steve Smith brining in Ace-pacer Mitchell Starc back into the attack on a pitch which was aiding spin. India’s new-found hero with the bat, Axar Patel was left without partners for the 2nd time in as many innings in the test, brining into scanner his much lower batting position.
Captain-Smith rises to the occasion –
With on-point bowling changes and smart and perfect field placements, Steve Smith proved his worth as Skipper once again leading Australia to a memorable victory in Indore. Smith-the skipper did not allow the baggage of absence of Pat Cummins and David Warner affect the Aussie-side and controlled the game with his smart thinking and decision making.
Nathon Lyon steals the show with 8-wicket Haul –
Not many times you get to see a visiting spinner overshadowing Indian spinners on their home turf, but such was the class of Nathon Lyon who rocked the Indian batting line-up with his tight lines and grip. Picking 8 wickets in the 2nd innings, Lyon was instrumental in dismantling the Indian batting line-up in sight of a memorable victory.
